Which illuminance is required at a CNC machine?
EN 1837 (integral lighting of machines) requires at least 500 lx at the point of work, typical values are 1,000 lx. For tool change and first-piece inspection 1,500 lx and above are recommended.

What is the advantage of IO-Link over plain 24-V switching?
IO-Link additionally provides diagnostic and status data — over-temperature, driver fault, operating hours — directly to the PLC. This enables predictive maintenance, and the luminaire becomes a full participant on the machine bus.

Which IP rating do I need inside the work area of a machine tool?
IP67 is the minimum against immersion and aerosol. IP69K (ISO 20653) is recommended whenever the machine is cleaned with high-pressure or hot-water jets, which is standard in food and pharmaceutical environments.

Which optic withstands chips and coolant inside the work area — plastic or glass?
Borosilicate glass best withstands heat, chips and coolant without clouding. Polycarbonate with splinter protection is the shatter-resistant alternative with slightly higher tendency to cloud. Standard PMMA (acrylic) is not suitable inside the work area.
