Frequently asked questions
-
What is IP69K and when do I need it?
IP69K (ISO 20653) provides additional protection against high-pressure and hot-water-jet cleaning. Standard for wash-down environments in food, beverage and pharmaceutical production, as well as for intensively cleaned machine areas.
-
What is EHEDG conformity and why does it matter?
EHEDG (European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group) defines design principles for hygienically cleanable components: smooth surfaces, rounded internal edges, self-draining geometry. EHEDG-conforming parts are demonstrably easy to clean, reducing hygiene risk in production.
-
Do I need NSF-certified luminaires in Europe as well?
For the EU market, conformity with EU Regulation 1935/2004 (materials in food contact) is generally sufficient. However, NSF (US standard) is increasingly required as a quality marker in European audits too, particularly with multinational food and pharmaceutical groups.

What does "LABS-free" mean?
LABS stands for paint-wetting impairment substances — primarily silicones, release agents and oils. LABS-free luminaires are free of such substances and are used in paint shops and adhesive processes (e.g. automotive). Otherwise craters, fish-eyes and bonding failures on paint and adhesive can occur.
